Oyo State Governor, Otunba Christopher Adebayo Alao-Akala, has charged the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA) to ensure a credible and hitch free election, as it prepares to elect officers into various offices of the association.

He gave the charge yesterday in Ibadan, while receiving members of the association led by its National President, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, during a courtesy call on him in his office.

The governor said that it has become imperative for lawyers to ensure that every vote counts during the election to lay a good example for politicians, as the nation is getting ready for the 2011 general elections.

Earlier in his address, Akeredolu commended the support of the state government for the association towards ensuring the success of its delegates conference.

He appealed to the governor to look into the issue of the striking judicial officers with a view to providing lasting solution to the problem, assuring the governor of the NBA’s commitment to ensure a free and fair election.

He also pledged the support of members of the association towards the success of the Alao-Akala administration.
