.May be impeached as Osun State FA boss today
THE unexpected happened at the Osun State Government House in Osogbo on Sunday when the sacked chairman of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Technical Committee, Chief Taiwo Ogunjobi, dared his Governor, Olagunsoye Oyinlola, by refusing to endorse the NFF election form of eminent football instructor, Chief Adegboye Onigbinde.
Onigbinde who hails from Osun State is seeking to replace Ogunjobi in the executive committee of the NFF at the August21 election in Abuja. Sports Compass exclusively gathered yesterday that Ogunjobi had played 'hide and seek' with the Modakeke high chief by tactically refusing to append his signature on the election form in his capacity as the Chairman of the State Football Association.
Oyinlola had summoned the two football gurus to the Government House when the development was reported to him.
He summarily ordered Ogunjobi to sign the form in his presence. But the governor was shocked to his bone marrow by the response of Ogunjobi who was recently impeached from the NFF alongside former president Sani Lulu and Amanze Uchegbulam.
A source who was at the meeting told Sports Compass that Ogunjobi stuck to his guns, telling the governor: "Your Excellency, I've never disrespected you before but this time, I'm going to disappoint you. I won't sign Chief Onigbinde's Form.
"Even if I go ahead to sign the form, I know he'll not win the NFF election. I know those who will not take over from us."
With the meeting ending in a stalemate, Sports Compass was reliably told that key members of the State FA have begun impeachment proceedings against Ogunjobi.
Ogunjobi's days as the Osun State FA boss are numbered. He will not survive this week. Having been sent packing from the NFF in shame, he cannot derail the ambition of our reverred FIFA instructor,"quipped the source.
Meanwhile, Ogunjobi has insisted that his vice-chairman in the state FA, Ganiyu Olaoluwa, would be endorsed, instead of Onigbinde in an apparent disobedience to governor's stance.
The embattled former Shooting Stars chairman has also been saying it loud and clear to those who care to listen that the dismantled cabal in the NFF led by Lulu planted the electoral committee.
